So my co-worker Matt Dunfee has seen me shape some boards and wanted to try it out himself. I came up on a really good deal on 5 Just Foam blanks that I just couldn’t pass up, and I figured this would be a great way for Matt to get his hands dirty. His daughter has just started surfing, and he really really wanted to shape her a board as an early Christmas gift, so that’s just what we did. After I showed him the ropes he had at it, hating and loving every second of it. After it was all shaped and ready for glass, he took it down to our local glasser Joe Roper and they worked there magic. These pics were taken about an hour or so after it was all done so there are some dark spots in the glass where the resin isn’t fully dry. After all said and done Matt and his daughter loved and the memories will last a lifetime.

So I finally got around to taking pictures of the last board I made, and its the board that took me out. This board is based off the old Simmons surf boards and I added a few ideas of my own. Dimensions are 6’3″ 1/2 x 22 1/2″ x 2 3/4″, 1 6oz glass on bottom and 2 6oz on top. The complete board was designed, shaped, glasses, and polished by me. Just a couple more weeks until I can work and surf again, and I cant wait.

Today turned out to be a great day. I went up to Cardith around lunch time to see if there was anybody out worth taking pictures of, and boy was I lucky. As I was parking, I looked out at the lineup, and directly in front of me was this girl hanging ten going down the line with style. I was shocked, not that it was a girl, but that I might get some good shots off. I grabbed my camera, walked down the sand, and see that there are some people videotaping this chick and her friends. As I looking at some of the photos while I’m waiting for the next sets to come in, I realized who she was, it was Roxy’s Pro Longboarder Kassia Meador. I walked over to one of the guys videotaping and asked what they were shooting for, and it was for a short film for Swatch watches. Not to long after that they all got out of the water, so I figured I would go grab a bite to eat and watch the now un ridden lonely waves.

My good friend David dragged me out to the Ocean Beach jetty to get some photos of him surfing yesterday afternoon. I haven’t set foot in the water since my little accident, so it was nice to even stand knee deep in semi warm water. Lighting was great I just wish that the surf was bigger and better.
